Wild grass and cora reed from local weavers, sorted, softened and dyed before it ever reaches the loom.

Handwoven in India · Since 2021
Cora mats woven on a bamboo loom, thread by thread. Lotus, kolam and Namam patterns for the pooja room, weddings and festive backdrops. Small batches, made to order.
Fresh from this week’s batch. When a piece sells out it is remade, not restocked from a warehouse.

Nothing here is stamped out by a machine. Every pattern is counted, every thread pulled, by hand.
Aalankaar means ornament — the thing you add that makes a space feel ready for the occasion. We weave small, considered cora mats for weddings, festivals and everyday poojas.
Every cora mat is handwoven on a bamboo loom and made to order. Each collection is restocked in small batches.

Wild grass is sorted, softened and dyed before it ever reaches the loom. The lotus and Tirumala namam patterns are counted out from memory — no pattern sheet, no machine guide. What comes off the loom is a little different every time, and that is the point.

Shop everythingUsed the kolam mat as our wedding stage backdrop — every guest asked where we got it, it looked like a proper handloom piece, not a printed banner.
Ordered a cora mat for our Ganesh chaturthi pooja — the weave and the lotus pattern were more detailed than the photos even showed.
The plain mat with the brown border is our everyday pooja backdrop now — it has held up through two festival seasons without fading.
